Think startups are a game for young founders only? Think again. 👇
The average successful founder is 45 years-old (according to HBR's research)
Yes, 45.
We've all heard about Gates, Jobs, and Zuckerberg.
But they are exceptions, not the rule.
A 2018 HBR research tells a different story.
Middle-aged founders dominate high-growth startups.
In software, the average founder is 40.
In biotech and energy, it's closer to 47.
The most successful startups?
Their founders average 45.
Experience matters.
Even tech icons peaked later.
Steve Jobs was 52 when he launched the iPhone.
Jeff Bezos was 45 when Amazon's growth took off.
So why do VCs chase young founders?
Perhaps they believe the myth.
Or maybe young founders accept lower valuations. 😉
Age isn't a bug; it's a feature.
So if you're thinking about starting up, it's never too late to take the leap.
P.S. Do you think there is such a thing as "too young" or "too old" to start a company?
