Jim Cramer signals the selloff has reached Apple and Palantir

Authors

Jim Cramer spent the start of the week pointing at the same thing: the negativity around Apple and Palantir is "pretty thick". "No matter what they say, it isn't enough…" he wrote on X on 2 November, grouping both with Marvell.

A day later he put it more bluntly, saying "the executioner" was axing both Palantir and Apple. As 24/7 Wall St read it, that is a signal the selling has moved beyond speculative, high-multiple software and into the largest, most widely held stocks in the market.

The numbers behind the mood:

  • Apple closed 1.83% lower on Monday at 338.32,thenfell2.81338.32, then fell 2.81% to 328.81 in extended trading after its results. The quarter beat, but management warned that high memory-chip costs will pressure gross margins.
  • Palantir fell sharply despite better-than-expected results and a surge in U.S. commercial revenue.

Apple matters in this pair because it is often the last megacap that institutional investors sell. When it drops alongside a high-multiple name like Palantir, the pressure looks broad-based rather than a rotation out of one crowded trade.

The useful signal is not Cramer's tone. It is that good results were not enough to lift either stock on the day. The market is repricing what it will pay for AI-driven growth and for hardware margins at the same time — two very different businesses that happened to report in the same week.
